CORRECTIONAL MINISTRY COURSE BEGINS SEPT. 26
Member Jim Seemann and others will teach a course on "An Introduction to Correctional Ministry"
from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, and the following five Tuesdays in Luther Hall room 113 at Concordia
University, 275 Syndicate St. N., St. Paul.
The course is free except for those seeking college credit.
Classes provide strategies to help those who have been incarcerated to find reconciliation, rehabilitation,
and redemption within the context of the Christian Gospel.
Participants may attend all of the sessions, some

Adult Bible Class (ABC)
HE IS THE BRIDGE OVER LIVING WATER
During September and October, Pastor Don is leading the Adult Bible Class in a
discovery of the significance of "water" in the Bible.
Course title is: HE IS THE BRIDGE OVER LIVING WATER.
COMMUNITY MEALS RESUME AT JEHOVAH
Jehovah Lutheran Church will serve fellowship meals from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesdays Sep
13, 20, 27, Oct 4, 11, 18, 15 and Nov 1 and 8. All are welcome.
Meals are free, with donations welcome.

Women’s Wednesday Night Bible Study
A women's Bible study will meet every other Wednesday beginning Sept. 20 at 6:30 p.m. in the
lounge at Jehovah Lutheran Church.
The subject will be "Finding I AM" by Christian author
based on the seven "I am" statements by Jesus in the Gospel of John.
TerKeurst's book describes Jesus' healing for "the deep cry of your heart" and "ache
in your soul that keeps you up at night,"
Class dates are Sept. 20, Oct. 4 and 18, Nov. 1, 15 and 29 and December 13.
Refreshments are provided. The sessions are free. All are welcome.
REFUGEE CLOTHING DONATIONS NEEDED
Lutheran Church continues to gather clothing and other items for Congolese refugees. The
church has so far helped over 100 families with clothing donations.
Congolese refugees have been
living in refugee camps for as long as 10 years, and more now are arriving in Minnesota
Donations of bus cards, cleaning supplies, toiletries, detergent and dish soap, dishes,
big cooking pots, microwave, used TV or radio and clothing are
urgently needed, says the Rev. Justin Byakweli, executive director of
CEEDS USA (Center for
Employment and Education Development Services), a group founded in 2011 to help refugees.
COLD WEATHER Heightens NEED for WARM CLOTHING.
As winter approaches, The need is for warm clothing as Minnesota
winter arrives – much colder
than the immigrants’ homeland in Africa. Please pass the word around to
anyone you know who may have children’s sweaters, pants, jackets, hats,
mittens, scarves, snowsuits, or boots (infant through 12 years) to share.
Adult coats and winter clothing are also needed,

Warm Jackets and Backpacks Needed
The Crossing HOME office at Jehovah is in need of very large-
sized (2X, 3X) jackets and winter coats. Backpacks and
duffel bags are also needed.
Jim recently reminded us that
gently used men’s clothing of all kinds is always welcome. Leave all
donations in a bag marked “Crossing HOME” in the Donation Center next
to the vending machine.
Sunday-school kids helped collect food-shelf items.
Come and sing!
Our mixed-voice choir for singers from seventh grade
to adult rehearses from 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesdays and sings up to four
Sundays per month at the 9:30 a.m. service.
We sing, have fun during rehearsal, support each other in tough times,
pray together and throw great parties.
If you have a busy schedule, it's OK to come when you can —
