Adult Bible Class (ABC)
Dr. Suzanne Hequet leads a study the next few weeks called “Reading Luther.” We
are actually reading parts of Luther’s Freedom of the Christian with great insights and
class discussion guided by Suzanne. Copies are available in class.
Bring your coffee/
treat and delve into Medieval, post-95-thesis Luther thinking. Fascinating stuff. See
you there! ..
REFUGEE CLOTHING DONATIONS NEEDED
Lutheran Church continues to gather clothing and other items for Congolese refugees. The
church has so far helped over 100 families with clothing donations.
Congolese refugees have been
living in refugee camps for as long as 10 years, and more now are arriving in Minnesota
Donations of bus cards, cleaning supplies, toiletries, detergent and dish soap, dishes,
big cooking pots, microwave, used TV or radio and clothing are
urgently needed, says the Rev. Justin Byakweli, executive director of
CEEDS USA (Center for
Employment and Education Development Services), a group founded in 2011 to help refugees.
COLD WEATHER Heightens NEED for WARM CLOTHING.
As winter approaches, The need is for warm clothing as Minnesota winter arrives – much colder
than the immigrants’ homeland in Africa. Please pass the word around to
anyone you know who may have children’s sweaters, pants, jackets, hats,
mittens, scarves, snowsuits, or boots (infant through 12 years) to share.
Adult coats and winter clothing are also needed,
The group has an office at the church. More information is available by calling
651-230-8957 or 651-239-7581.
Donated items can be left at the church, which is at 1566 Thomas in St. Paul.
Please call Jeanne (651-645-2867) or Sarah at the church office (651-644-1421) to arrange drop off times.
Warm Jackets and Backpacks Needed
The Crossing HOME office at Jehovah is in need of very large-
sized (2X, 3X) jackets and winter coats. Backpacks and
duffel bags are also needed.
Jim recently reminded us that
gently used men’s clothing of all kinds is always welcome. Leave all
donations in a bag marked “Crossing HOME” in the Donation Center next
to the vending machine.
Sunday-school kids helped collect food-shelf items.
Come and sing!
Our mixed-voice choir for singers from seventh grade
to adult rehearses from 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesdays and sings up to four
Sundays per month at the 9:30 a.m. service.
We sing, have fun during rehearsal, support each other in tough times,
pray together and throw great parties.
If you have a busy schedule, it's OK to come when you can —
or you could just join us for the great music of Christmas and Easter.
